This is an extraordinary blooming of the Sandhof lily in Namibia that happens once every few years. Only when heavy rains have passed, and the water level in the desert reaches at least 12 inches, dormant bulbs in the ground appear in beautiful flowers. I hope to see it one day with my own eyes. This natural phenomenon was an inspiration for the painting.
