ABOUT

Color Bay Art – is an artscape created by Lana Wengerd where nature, animals, and everyday life are reflected in vibrant, vivid colors, and magical fantasies.
Wengerd’s passion for animals is evident in her work, where they often feature prominently along with symbolic elements like clouds, stars, galaxies and scenic dreamscapes. The artist believes in nature as a healer, a guide, a spiritual sanctuary, where we can rest, rejuvenate and recharge our souls.
One of the artist’s favorite thematic elements is a glimpse of light coming through clouds, trees, waves, or space. Glowing light symbolizes our inner light and potential for growth and transformation, knowledge, hope, and love.
Wengerd believes every viewer can find their own symbolism in the images she creates.
Working in mixed media techniques gives Wengerd the freedom to choose different mediums and materials. Her creative process often starts with acrylic inks. Unpredictable flow of inks creates free forms, depth, and interesting color combinations, which become a part of the final painting. To create more layers, Wengerd uses acrylic paints, collage, gold leaf, markers, charcoal, and other materials. A final layer of oils makes the painting look vivid and saturated.
Wengerd ventured into the world of art rather late in her life, being mostly self-taught. The Mastery Program of Milan Art Institute became a milestone on her path to learning missing skills and techniques for discovering her own voice and style.
The artist’s life journey shines through her canvas with love, vulnerability, hunger to explore and constant transformation. Wengerd is a creative dreamer, passionate about the beauty of nature, where she finds her inspiration. She sees her purpose as bringing more colors, joy, vibrancy, and magic to people’s everyday lives. She hopes to make her humble contribution in drawing viewers’ attention to the fragile beauty of flora and fauna, and the need to protect it.
Wengerd currently lives with her husband, daughter, and their dog near Tampa, Florida, working in her sunny home studio.
